Tjudibaring AECG Award Winners and Nominees
Tjudibaring AECG Awards celebrate and recognise effort, improvement, excellence and achievement in Aboriginal education in schools within the AECG (Aboriginal Education Consultancy Group) area. Awards are presented to selected students in a range of categories. This year the awards were online on Wednesday 17 November from Erina High School.

Congratulations to the following students who have won Tjudibaring AECG Awards in recognition for their commitment to their culture and community.

Recognition for 2020 - Grace M (Year 5)
Grace produced a short video last year about her Aboriginal culture, knowledge and personal experience. NAIDOC celebrations were online due to COVID, her video was shared in Primary classrooms. No awards were held in 2020, this category is to recognise students who missed out on the opportunity.
Sporting Achievement Award - Raj S (Year 8)
Raj is an all round sportsman. He has represented the school in multiple sports, also making zone and state teams for Cricket.
Performing Arts award - Grace M (Year 5)
Grace started in performance group for dance last year. In 2021 she started competing in solo dance. Unfortunately this has been impacted by COVID but she has performed to a high standard.
Leadership- Alexander B (Year 9)
Alex wrote 鈥淚 am a proud Aboriginal Australian. My great grandfather was from the Wakka Wakka tribe between Brisbane and Bundaberg in Queensland. My great grandmother was born on the Yass River and was from the Wiradjuri tribe which covers a large area in Central NSW down to the Murray river.鈥� Country is very important, this was part of his NAIDOC speech in front of Secondary school. Alex left students with this thought, 鈥淚 really hope that through more awareness and huge effort Australia can start to close the gap and eliminate these differences to ensure equality for all.鈥�
Teacher Contribution - Mr Andrew McGillivray
Mr McGillivray has led student mission trips to Brewarrina for many years. He mentors students and has a passion for learning about Aboriginal culture. Mr McGillivray has delivered NAIDOC messages and is integral in raising the profile of teaching Aboriginal history, culture and experience at 榴莲视频IOS.
Community Member Award - Jeanie Hipwell
Jeanie has two children at GPCC and is passionate about raising the profile of Aboriginal education and increasing understanding. Jeanie has advised us during the organisation of NAIDOC, Reconciliation and Sorry Day events.
